Who we are

Casella is the household app for couples, made by a couple. This page covers the Casella app and the casella.app website. For anything it doesn't answer, write to [email protected].

What we store, and why

Your account. When you sign in with Google or with an email address and password, we store your email address, your name, and the identifiers your sign-in provider gives us. We use them to log you in and to show your partner who you are.

Your household. Everything you and your partner put into Casella: the household's name and currency, who's in it, the invites you send, and the content you both add. We store it so both of you can see it.

The waitlist. If you join the iPhone waitlist on this site, we store your email address and nothing else, and we use it to send one email when the app is out.

Usage and crash data

The app uses two Google services: Firebase Analytics, which tells us which features get used and on what kind of device, and Firebase Crashlytics, which sends us a report when the app crashes. We use them to fix bugs and to decide what's worth building next.

The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies, and the waitlist form runs Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a submission comes from a person and not a script.

Casella has no ads, and we don't sell data or track you across other sites or apps.

Where it lives

We store app data with Google Firebase, on Google Cloud infrastructure. The waitlist lives with Cloudflare. Both handle it as service providers under their standard terms and safeguards.

How long we keep it

Account and household data stay until you delete your account, or until the household they belong to is deleted. Crash reports and usage statistics follow Firebase's standard retention periods and age out on their own. The waitlist is deleted after the launch email goes out, or sooner if you ask to come off it.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask what we hold about you, get a copy of it, have it corrected, or have it deleted. If you're in the EU or the UK, these are your GDPR rights, and you can also complain to your local data protection authority. For any of it, write to [email protected].

Age

Casella is for adults. You need to be 18 or over to use it, and we don't knowingly store data about anyone younger. If a minor has created an account, write to us and we'll delete it.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change is material, we'll say so in the app before it applies.
